Woodlands Care Centre
At Woodlands Care Centre we’re dedicated to providing quality care in comfortable surroundings. Many of our visitors comment on the homely feel we’ve created. It’s a very sociable home where residents sit and chat to each other. Our staff are very close to the residents and everyone from the gardener to the manager interacts with residents and their families. Our home is comfortable and spacious a place where we can really give each resident individual care and attention. We respect each resident’s individual needs and preferences and work hard to promote individuality and choice.
We’re situated within a residential area and the home is a real part of the community with good links with the local schools and churches. Woodlands Care Centre is easy to reach by road or public transport. It’s just a 15 minute drive from Cambridge and 30 minutes from Ely and Newmarket. The bus stop is a five minute walk and the bus route travels to the town and surrounding areas. There are three pubs nearby as well as a small supermarket.
Our modern home is fully accessible with stairs, a lift and wheelchair access.
All of our resident’s rooms have en-suite facilities and have been designed to offer privacy whilst being a safe place where residents can relax. Each room is tastefully decorated to a high standard with modern facilities such as a telephone point, colour television and a nurse call system. Residents are encouraged to bring small personal items such as ornaments and pictures to make their room feel even more homely. Our communal areas include nine spacious lounges and dining rooms. Several of our lounges have access to the patio areas and gardens, offering a delightful place to spend a sunny afternoon in peace and tranquillity. Residents can also take a stroll in our long, safe gardens.
At mealtimes we provide a good choice of tasty and delicious meals. We’re happy to cater for special diets including those in keeping with religious beliefs. Residents can choose where they would prefer to eat their meals and relatives are welcome to join us at mealtimes if they wish. We also have serveries in each lounge where residents can prepare their own food and drink throughout the day.
We believe that keeping active is a vital part of daily life and provide many different ways for residents to spend their time. We have a vegetable patch and a greenhouse where residents can get green-fingered whilst enjoying the fresh air. We also provide music for health sessions and exercise classes.Residents can sit with visitors in the lounge, coffee shop, garden or other seated areas around the home.
We arrange regular outings such as visiting the pub for a meal or trips to the supermarket, garden centre, churches and city attractions. Books are also available and newspaper deliveries can be arranged with the newsagent.
At Woodlands Care Centre we support those requiring dementia care, general nursing and palliative care for a wide range of people, including young people with a physical disability. We provide the highest level of care and also encourage residents to make their own decisions regarding their daily life such as when to get up and what to wear. We have good links with the local GP surgery and a GP visits us twice a week as well as being available for emergency visits.
We provide all of our staff with good training opportunities – both in-house training and external training. We have a very low staff turnover and believe that our staff are our greatest asset; the warmth they generate inside our home is enormous.
